Planning a Dream Trip to Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany?

Neuschwanstein Castle 2013: An Exploring Castles Travel Guide

My name's Edd Morris. If you're reading this page, I guess you might love visiting historic Europe as much as I do.

For me, Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany is one of the most remarkable sights of Europe. You may have seen the photos of this fairytale castle, built in the 1880s for an eccentric King.

I guess you may be reading this from within the USA, and planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Neuschwanstein. If so, I'm excited for you!

A Real Life Fairytale

When I visited Neuschwanstein this year, I came upon a problem. I wanted to know so much more about the history of this incredible place. But you can only experience the inside of the castle as part of a rushed tour - with barely any time to ask questions.

As I wanted to know more, I tried to find a guidebook. But there aren't even any good books to buy in the gift shops. The ones they have are old and dog-eared, or in German.

My Quest to Uncover the Secrets of Neuschwanstein

When I got home from my trip, I searched for days to find more about the secrets of Neuschwanstein. I devoured books about 'Mad' King Ludwig - the man who created it - and old history books about the castle.

I uncovered so many secrets about Neuschwanstein that no-one else knew, and the castle tour-guide didn't explain to me.

I was so excited about what I found - and so frustrated that there was no other good guide available - that I took it on myself to write a guidebook about Neuschwanstein.

It's taken me a long time to finish it. I'm a bit of a perfectionist! However, I'm really proud of the finished article.

I've filled my guidebook to Neuschwanstein with everything you might need to know about the castle. And stuff you might find fascinating!

Fascinating Stories and Overlooked Details

My 108-page book contains:

  • A 'tour in words' of the castle - hidden secrets and overlooked details of every room
  • The mysterious life of 'Mad' King Ludwig - was he really murdered?
  • The incomplete rooms of unfinished Neuschwanstein

I've also filled the guide with tips and techniques to maximise your visit to the castle. Things to help you avoid the crowds!

  • The best hotels and restaurants in Munich, Fussen and Hohenschwangau village (the surrounds of the castle)
  • Strategies to avoid the crowds
  • Hidden walks and secret trails inside Neuschwanstein's Alpine environment
  • Attractions and other historical spots around the castle
